Debian LVM LUKS Hard drive upgrade Howto

I’m going to describe here what I did to upgrade the internal hard drive of my laptop. But first, here’s a description of the situation of my computer:

• It’s a laptop (not a desktop)
• Its OS is Debian Linux
• Its hard drive has two partitions
  • A small boot up partition
  • An encrypted partition

I wanted to have the same data on the new hard drive but without having to reinstall the operating system. I’ll go through the details of this transfer later on.

Je vais décrire ici la procédure que j’ai suivie pour transférer les données d’un petit disque dur à un plus gros. L’installation de mon ordinateur avait certaines particularités :

• Il s’agit d’un ordinateur portatif (laptop)
• Debian Linux est son système d’exploitation
• Son disque dur est sous-divisé en deux partitions
  • Une petite partition de démarrage
  • Une partition encryptée

Je voulais sur le nouveau disque dur avoir les mêmes données sans avoir à y réinstaller le système d’exploitation. Je spécifie plus loin les détails de ce transfert
